I enjoy writing recommendations for my students! Please follow the procedures below to get started:
1. Ask me in person at an appropriate time (not during my class or between classes). Please do not send me an email or the Naviance form without speaking to me in person.
2. I need about 10 days to write a recommendation, as they are all due around the same time.
3. Please think about and write down what you feel was your biggest strength in the class, something that you learned and will remember, and/or how you think you stood out as a student. I need at least two specific anecdotal stories that showcase you as a student. In other words, general answers do not help me write a personal recommendation. I could say that all my students learned to write a research paper, for example. Or, that all my students are hard workers and participate in groups.
4. Once we agree that I will write the recommendation, you will need to fill out the required Naviance online form. I will need a list of all the colleges you want me to send the letter to at this time.
5. Please hand deliver your resume that we worked on during the school year. Update it as needed. This will give me a lot more information about you that I can highlight in my recommendation letter.
6. Once I submit the recommendation to Naviance, you will receive a notice that your recommendation has been completed. Please let me know that you received this notification.
7. If I agree to write your recommendation, it will be favorable. Therefore, you will need to select that the recommendation will remain confidential on your application. I do not show students recommendations, although I will tell you one thing that I specifically highlighted that showcases one of your strengths.
8. When you are accepted, come by and let me know!! I will be so happy for you!
